Many undocumented immigrants avoid thinking of the possibility of being taken into immigration detention and neglect to prepare themselves and their families in case this happens.

Families are far more vulnerable if they do not know their rights and do not have a plan in place. Children may be suddenly be left alone and parents can lose custody of their children if they do not have the right documents prepared.

This guide by the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project (FIRRP) will walk you through the steps necessary to be prepared. It’s a must-read for immigrant families and advocates.
