Carmen and Zarco Guerrero are beloved artists in the Phoenix community with a strong commitment to the preservation of Mexican and Chicano traditions.
Their many years of art-ivism have inspired them to create an organization that allows families to enjoy culture, art, music, dance, poetry and education through activities and festivals – all free to the public.
Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund proudly sponsors El Dia de los Muertos Phoenix by Cultural Coalition. The October fiesta attracts around 10,000 people for one day of celebration featuring 150 performing artists and an artists’ mercado. The community participates by creating altars of remembrance, singing and dancing with the Catrinas and Catrinos, and walking in a traditional candlelight procession to honor our dearly departed.
The next Dia de los Muertos Festival will take place Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Indian Steele Park in Phoenix, located at 300 E. Indian School Road. Don’t miss it!
