Written by Carmen Cornejo

Deferred Action (DACA)-DREAMer students can enroll with in-state tuition fees to all three state universities in Arizona, thanks to a Superior Court ruling and subsequent vote at the Arizona Board of Regents this past May.

ASU has issued a guideline for registration purposes. These are the highlights:

How to apply to ASU as DACA student:

Students can fill the application at

Under “U.S. Citizenship,” students should choose “I’m not a U.S.citizen.”

They should then answer “What type of visa will you be holding?” with the response “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).”

Then proceed to fill out the rest of the application.

How to establish residency for tuition purposes:

DACA students seeking in-state tuition should submit to the Residency Classification Office the following documents:

1. A completed Domicile Affidavit:

2. A copy of the Employment Authorization Document and a copy of their photo ID.

Unfortunately, admitted DACA students are not elegible for federal financial aid, ASU merit awards or state-based aid. DACA-DREAMers should look into private sources of scholarships.
